A. Introductory Physics for Solar Application

In this section, we will explore some fundamental concepts of physics that are used heavily in the solar sections to come. These basic principles are crucial for understanding how solar cells behave on the particle level and how the interactions involved with sunlight are able to generate a usable current. Only by having a basic understanding of atoms, electrons, semiconductors, and electricity can one understand the process of solar cell operation and truly appreciate the difficulty of efficiently harnessing the power of sunlight. Users already acquainted with the basic physics of atomic structure and electricity are encouraged to skip ahead to Basics of the Sun.
